We Are Roam Free
In the wide-open beauty of Western Montana, Roam Free Ranch was born from a deep love of the land and a belief that food should mean something.
We’re a veteran- and woman-owned ranch, first-generation ranchers who chose this life because we believe stewardship matters. We believe the land isn’t ours to use up — it’s ours to protect, nurture, and pass on better than we found it. Like the old campground rule says, leave no trace — except improvement.
Regenerative agriculture isn’t a trend to us. It’s a responsibility. It’s waking up every day committed to restoring soil, honoring the animals, and building a food system rooted in integrity instead of shortcuts.
And at the heart of it all is the American bison — a symbol of resilience, strength, and the wild spirit of this country. We don’t just raise bison. We believe in them. In their power to heal the prairie. In their place in America’s story. In their future.
When you choose Roam Free, you’re not just choosing a better protein. You’re choosing land restored. Animals respected. A ranching family fighting for something bigger than themselves.
That’s what it means to Roam Free.
Meet the ranchers
Jon Sepp - Founder
After an adventurous career of testing parachutes in the military, Jon couldn’t imagine having a regular 9 to 5 in the next chapter of his life. He decided to pursue one of his first passions, bison. With virtually no experience or funding he turned his dream into reality by building a free roaming, sustainable bison ranch in Montana.
Brittany Masters - Founder
While working part time in Seattle to support his dream, Jon met Brittany. A self-proclaimed health freak, Brittany is obsessed with food quality and natural living. It wasn’t long until Jon convinced her to quit their corporate jobs and transition to ranching full-time. Combining their passion for animal welfare and healthy eating, they decided to create a snack food that was as pure as the bison on the land. No sugar or additives needed.
